Our senior class of ‘20 deserves huge plaudits
WITH Term 4 coming to an end, I would like to congratulate the Gold Coast’s students and teachers for their extraordinary work and patience this year.
There has never been a school year like 2020 and, hopefully, we will never see a year like it again. COVID-19 caused huge disruption for our state schools, but each one was equal to the challenge.
Thanks to the dedication and skill of our teachers, the switch to remote learning worked remarkably well after some initial technological problems.
The outstanding work of teachers and principals in ensuring our children continued to receive a great education should be recognised and applauded.
Gold Coast students deserve special recognition too.
This has been a tough year for them, especially as so many of the regular routines and events of the school year, such as excursions, sports days, graduations and formals, have been cancelled or curtailed because of COVID-19.
The 3359 Year 12 students on the Gold
Coast are the ones to have been most affected.
These amazing young people were the first to complete Year 7 in high school and the first to experience the new ATAR system.
It has not been easy for them, but they have overcome each of these challenges in turn.
The class of 2020 proves our state has a bright future.
I hope that they and their teachers have a great summer break and remember their school days with happiness and pride in their many achievements.
