It’s sonny days for Tiger and the Shark

- RUSSELL GOULD

TIGER Woods and his son versus Greg Norman and his son is happening.

Woods confirmed that he and his 11-year-old son Charlie, who went viral after video of his smooth swing emerged earlier this year, will play in the PNC Championship next month.

Others in the field include Norman (pictured) and his son Gregory, as well as John Daly and his son, John Jr, a rising star who recently committed to play college golf at Arizona State University.

Woods has caddied for his son in junior events, with footage of his pure swing enough for some to label him a golfing prodigy.

“I can’t tell you how excited I am to be playing with Charlie in our first official tournament together,”

Woods said.

“It’s been great watching him progress as a junior golfer, and it will be incredible playing as a team together in the PNC Championship.”

Woods is ultra-protective of his children’s privacy. But both Charlie and his daughter were present on the 18th green at Augusta last year when Woods secured his fifth Masters win.

The PNC Championship, being played in Florida, pits 20 major championship winners, plus a family member, against each other.

Tournament boss Alastair Johnston said having Woods in the field was a “very special moment”.

“We will welcome him knowing very well that he will not be driven by nostalgia but will be on a mission to add to his commendable list of titles, but this time having the chance to share one with his son,” he said.

The event will be held without spectators but will be broadcast on TV.
