Gold Coast’s most popular online home searches of 2020
A BLOCK of land on Millionaires Row, an architecturally-designed house with a ceiling that opens to the night sky and luxurious mansions are just some of the Gold Coast’s most popular properties of 2020.
Realestate.com.au crunched the numbers to reveal which properties secured the most clicks, with waterfront propeties being the most popular.
REA Group chief economist Nerida Conisbee said there had been a lot of searches by people in Victoria and NSW looking for properties in Queensland.
“Many no longer have to work in an office,” she said. “That means many can now live anywhere.”
The Gold Coast’s six most popular properties of 2020
1. 26-34 Knightsbridge Pde East, Sovereign Islands
On the market for an eyewatering $36 million, this palatial mega-mansion was first listed for $45 million.
2. 1088 Killymoon Dve, Hope Island
Extensively renovated, this 620sq m Hamptonsstyle residence has suspended concrete slabs, high ceilings and European Oak floors. It was sold by Kollosche Broadbeach for $2.51 million on June 19.
3. 156 Tallai Rd, Tallai Voted 2008 House of the Year by Master Builders Queensland, this architecturally-designed home has serious wow factor. Spanning three levels, the house is connected by a glass elevator and has five bedrooms, including a master retreat with a fireplace, three walk-in wardrobes, a vast ensuite, a kitchenette and a grand ceiling that opens to reveal the night sky. It is listed with LJ Hooker Hope Island. 4. 249-255 Monaco St, Broadbeach Waters
Now under offer, this spectacular residence was owned by mining executive David Fitch and wife Rachel, who bought a new home in Southport for $7 million in 2019. The Broadbeach Waters house sits on a 3300sq m block with 43m of river frontage. It was sold by Savills Gold Coast.

This grand 1250sq m mansion, referred to locally as the Kardashian house, sold on October 20 after the previous owners did a “top to bottom renovation”. It was sold by Lucy Cole Prestige.
6. 65 Hedges Ave, Mermaid Beach
Located on Millionaires’ Row, this “knock-over shack” on a 405sq m elevated block sold on October 16. Surrounded by trophy homes, the house had three bedrooms, one bathroom, and living room that opened on to a beachfront deck. It was sold for $4.9 million by Kollosche Broadbeach.
