THE INSIDE WORD

- WITH PETER & REGINA

COAST IDENTITIES’ DIFFERENT KIND OF MAGIC

A COUPLE of hatches have arrived for two of our notables.

Magic man Matt Hollywood has welcomed a new addition to his family. Christian Edward Matthew Thomas is the young bub’s name, (believe it or not, Hollywood is his stage name), and spreading joy and happiness in the family is his game.

“I have two girls, Grace and Faith, so wasn’t sure what we would call the latest addition. If it was a girl it would be Hope or Christian for a boy. The girls really know how to twist me around their little finger so having a boy will create a bit more balance in my life.”

The second arrival occurred for dancer/choreographer Ant Ikin and his husband Pete Cunningham in Los Angeles where courtesy of a surrogate mother, baby Nash has completed their family.

“We called him Nash because Pete has a long association with Nashville and we like the sound to it,” Ant said.

“We are both beyond excited and can’t stop looking at our perfect little boy.”

(We checked and he definitely wasn’t named after TV detective Nash Bridges.)

Baby love – there’s nothing like it.

BOLTON FROM THE BLUE

THE Remember When this week is a photo of American pop rock superstar Michael Bolton (above) was taken during his One World, One Love

MOTHERS around the world are known for going above and beyond in their quest to do whatever is possible for their children. (Dads too but tomorrow is Mother’s Day.)

of Australia in 2010.

Our own Ricki-Lee Coulter caught up with him after his concert in the showroom at Conrad-Jupiters.

Renowned for his unique vocal technique that gives him a sound like no other, Bolton

Chithrani Palipana is one such mother and her devotion and care for her son Dr Dinesh Palipana, Queensland’s Australian of the Year, was rightfully honoured at the Gold Coast Women in Business on Thursday morning.

“My philosophy as a mother is based on three

began his career as a heavy metal singer before graduating to the genre that has enabled him to sell around 80 million albums. He is now 68 years young and still performing when COVID restrictions allow.

TALK ABOUT SKIN IN THE GAME

WITH her husband Maurie, Allison Pickering (right) has more than enough on her plate to keep herself busy, so starting a new cosmetic company would seem to be yet another project to juggle.

Speaking to her at a function at Pickering Luxury Garage words – love, devotion and commitment,” she explained.

Dinesh’s world was literally shattered in a car crash which left him a quadriplegic. He struggled to deal with his circumstances after the accident and Chithrani was an integral part of his recovery and deciding to embrace life again.

last week, she explained why she began: “After I left school I worked in the cosmetic industry and preventive skincare was extremely import- ant to me. I couldn’t find a product without all the nasty chemicals so I set about creating Mx Skincare.

“Even more important is that it is for all genders and ‘Mx’ is a gender-neutral honorific so it is suitable for everyone.

“I launched it in November last year and the response from everyone has been astonishing.

“Firstly, I gave him the time to work things out. He knew he would always have my support and he trusted me. I said to him that when he was ready to resume his medical studies I would support him and that he had nothing to lose. He worked hard and achieved his dream and continues to strive.”

We are also one of the sponsors for the Gold Coast Bulletin’s Women of the Year which makes me extremely proud.”

IN-DEMAND COAST ACTOR JUST ROCKIN’ IT

WHEN you’re hot, you’re hot and local actor Craig Ingham is, as they say, smokin’ at the moment.

This week Young Rock, the story Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, was launched in Australia and Craig received a message from friends in Amertour ica excitedly telling him that they had seen him in one of the future episodes.

“I didn’t work with The Rock but I did audition for a few different parts and managed to land a role,” Craig said.

“A fantastic experience with an amazing crew and word has just come through that another season has been approved.”

In further great news, one of his movies, The Slaughterhouse Killer, in which he plays the pivotal role of Box, has sold out all DVDs in the major distribution points in America.

DON’T SNOOZE, DONATE

A LITTLE over a month to go until the Vinnies CEO Sleep Out beds down in Cbus Stadium, Robina, on June 17.

For all of those who have slept rough or donated over the past years, be proud of the fact that your efforts have helped to create a magnificent new facility for those doing it tough.

Colin Wheeler, event ambassador for Vinnies Sleep Out Gold Coast, described the new digs: “We opened The Hub recently and it is a building purchased with money from a benefactor and the CEO Sleepout funds. It has seven agencies working upstairs including Families Back on Track, My Community Legal, Family Support Accommodation, NILLS Loans and Cornerstone. This will provide a onestop shop where clients can get multifaceted advice and support that will help them through their tough times.”

Another shining example of the extraordinary generosity of our citizens.

THANKS TO ALL THE MUMS

A FINAL word on Mother’s Day tomorrow. To all the mums out there, thank you for making and baking us and, most importantly, thank you for having us. Have a great day.
