BEER BOOBS AND BIG BOGS … IT’S HOW PERRY PLAYS
LAS VEGAS: Katy Perry made quite the splash with the start of her “PLAY” residency at the Resorts World in Las Vegas in a show that included a costume with a bustier made of beer cans – from which the new mum pretended to lactate.
The New York Post said the outrageous look was a nod to her 2010 California Gurls music video. Fans will remember the Daisy Dukes-clad singer shooting whipped cream out of her bikini top in a Candyland inspired world alongside Snoop Dogg.
Perry’s larger-than-life Vegas show also included a conversation with a giant talking surgical face mask, which she toasted on stage with said “breast beer”. Other props included a giant toilet – complete with plunger and toilet rolls – massive mushrooms and dancing toothbrushes.
The pop star, 37, sang some of her most famous hits for the sold-out crowd, including Waking up in Vegas, Dark Horse, California Gurls, Roar, Firework and more.
“As with everything I do, PLAY is massively colourful for the kids, with a deep wink for the adults,” Perry said in a statement. “The show is a funny, playful trip and was designed specifically for this theatre in Vegas.”
She continued: “Honestly, I couldn’t ever travel this show from arena to arena. These sets are larger than life – literally – and the perfect excuse to wake up in Vegas.”
Perry’s residency will be playing through to March.
Perry changed into eight different colourful outfits for her show, including a white mini dress, a sequined orange maxi dress, a pink Cleopatra-inspired gown and a 1960s-esque bubble dress.
She will reportedly earn a cool $168m for her residency in Las Vegas.
