What time do you wake up on a Saturday? Depending on my Friday night, I’m usually up pretty early on a Saturday, maybe 6am, to make the most of the surf before the weekend crowd arrives. My routine involves a surf or a run (if the waves suck), at least two coffees and a pastry. Then I’ll head to the markets and get the goodies for my girlfriend Charlie (26) and I for the week.

Where and when do you exercise?

I don’t surf for the exercise but over time it’s definitely just naturally become my main source of exercise. I try for at least three or four sessions a week and I’ve recently started going to ACTV, Burleigh, which is group strength and conditioning classes. In the absence of surf or a gym, I’ll run.

What’s your go-to weekend breakfast?

I love a pastry, particularly an almond croissant, to get me going. Then I’ll usually hold out ’til later in the morning, come home with a fresh loaf of bread from the markets and cook eggs. For cold and fresh, I’ll walk to Salt Mill for their choc granola acai bowl.

Favourite park?

New Farm Park because I grew up in Brissy and have many fond memories in that park.

Best place to go with dogs?

My British bulldog Theo loves Tugun Beach on sunrise or sunset.

Local coffee haunt?

Highline Palm Beach, or Good Day (Tugun), are my staples. The coffee and snacks are great, the fit-outs are cool and, importantly, the baristas and crowd are genuine.

Favourite takeaway?

Nothing beats Sticky Rice Thai, Tugun. The Chicken Cashew Nut curry is a must try.

Best spot for date night?

Caracara, an epic little Mexican outfit at Tugun. The tacos are tasty and chunky, they’ve got a range of drinks, and their guac and chips is a winner. Even if the date doesn’t go well, your belly will thank you.

Best beach?

Currumbin. It’s got the perfect balance of buzz and relax with just enough food and drink options, and the waves are consistent but it never really gets so crowded.

Favourite cinema? Palace James St, Brisbane.

Favourite live music venue? The Coolangatta Hotel.

Favourite venue to see a show? Dracula’s, Broadbeach, is iconic.

Favourite place to holiday in Queensland? Anywhere alone on K’gari/fraser Island.

What’s your perfect Saturday?

It starts with a great surf, then a few coffees and naughty treats at one of my local cafes. Return home and cook a big breaky with Charlie. Watch TV while the food coma subsides. Ease into a nap. Arvo surf, sunset beers by the beach. Then watch the footy at my folks’ house, with a BBQ and chocolate to finish me off. Of course a deep, peaceful sleep.
