THE TAB’S GOLD COAST RACING EXPERT NICOLE THOMAS ANALYSES TODAY’S ACTION

-

RACE 6 – Class 3 Handicap (1800m)

Dogmatic returns from a seven-week break and can bounce back after never looking likely at Sale last start. The prior Victorian form is good enough to win this. Emaleah was only narrowly defeated over the longer trip at the Sunshine Coast and won her maiden here on the heavy. Cheers To All made up ground from the back at Beaudesert last start and should be finishing strongly again. Van Gogh was unable to fire on the Poly Track last start but can improve third-up.

SELECTIONS: 1 Dogmatic, 5 Emaleah, 4 Cheers To All, 2 Van Gogh

RACE 7 – Benchmark 65 (900m)

Not Another has been a model of consistency and was only beaten a length by Blackjack Boom before a spell. That form should measure up. Miss Baltimore is also resuming and should find this easier than her Sydney assignments last preparation. Another Spirit is also back from a break and is a genuine threat if he can jump on-terms from the low draw. Poita drops 3kg on his last-start win at Moree and should be charging home late.

SELECTIONS: 11 Not Another, 7 Miss Baltimore, 8 Another Spirit, 4 Poita

RACE 8 – Class 2 Plate (1200m)

Oriental Princess is resuming and ran second behind Alpine Edge in her most recent trial. Promising filly and the one to beat if she does not run in town. Pascal should find this easier than his last few runs in the city and looks to be the main danger. Beyond Fate ran-on well when resuming over 1100m last start and can get into the money here.

Mount Fuji is back from a break and has been running well since moving to Queensland.

SELECTIONS: 14 Oriental Princess, 4 Pascal, 7 Beyond Fate, 8 Mount Fuji

RACE 9 – 0-60 Handicap (1400m)

Amphawa is in terrific form and should be very tough to beat here with the blinkers on for the first time. Door Into Summer has been ultraconsistent this preparation and should be fighting out the finish. Princess Sparkles resumed with a runners-up prize last start and should run well here again. Star Seeker was an impressive maiden winner here last start and may go on with it. Redstone has been luckless this preparation and could get into the money this time around.

SELECTIONS: 1 Amphawa, 12 Door Into Summer, 8 Princess Sparkles, 11 Star Seeker, 5 Redstone
