What time do you wake up on a Saturday? When not touring, Saturdays are the day I look forward to most. I start with a coffee, jam on my guitar for a bit before I head out for the day. If there’s local footy on, I meet up with the boys, and sneak a few lemonades in.

Where and when do you exercise? When I have the chance, I go for long walks around my local community or, depending where I am touring, I will find a park or use the hotel gym to do some power walking. I enjoy walking by myself, listening to my favourite tunes or listening to podcasts by my favourite motivational speakers.

What’s your go-to weekend breakfast? I like to cook my own breakfast: bacon, eggs, toast and a glass of OJ or coffee. Or The Coffee Club or any local cafe.

Favourite park/green space?

I like to hang out at Logan Gardens park or anywhere near the saltwater or river. Being a Torres Strait Islander, being next to water eases my mind and lets me reset and recharge.

Local coffee haunt? Cappuccino, full-cream milk and two sugars from Coffee on Wembley, Logan Central.

Favourite takeaway? I am a big fan of Tai Pak Chinese Take-away,

Logan Central, for Mongolian beef and fried rice seafood combination.

Best spot for date night? Touring can be exhausting, so I often forget about dates. But I love taking my date to buffet restaurants like Kaikai Chicken, St Lucia.

Best beach? Mutukun (Terry Bay) at home on Badu Island, Torres Strait, and Waikiki Beach, Hawaii. Here I feel a sense of connection to the land and sea. I love the warm weather and good vibes of the beaches.

Favourite live music venue? The Tivoli, Fortitude Valley; The Triffid, Newstead; or Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Boondall.

Favourite performance space? I have performed on many great stages but my hometown’s Kingston Butter Factory, Logan, is my new favourite space.

Favourite place to holiday? Badu Island, Torres Strait. There’s nothing like being in the presence of my Elders, eating great food and sharing great stories of my Torres Strait history or stories that are filled with joy.

What’s your perfect Saturday? Healthy breakfast, good coffee. Catch up with family, local footy, social poker before dinner of chicken wings and fries, then live music. Debut album Reality Is out now, ABC Music
