Founder of Gab Waller, personal shopper, 28, West Hollywood

- ANNABEL FALCO

The dream wardrobe tour and a lesson in style, trends and up-andcoming designers: Gab Waller’s walk-in-wardrobe is as luxurious as it is practical where Saint Laurent basics, vintage Chanel jackets and sky-high heels found her revered style.

The world-renowned personal shopper, who grew up in Rockhampton in Central Queensland, has clients including Rosie Huntington-whitely, Kourtney Kardashian and Hailey Bieber, is back on home turf this month to host private shopping appointments at the Jackalope Hotel.

Whether you are after a new (and very improved) wardrobe, or simply want to pick her stylish brain on investment pieces vs trend updates, both Gab’s wardrobe and knowledge are in high demand.

How would you describe your personal style?

With my personal style, I always aim for chic but effortless. I tend to gravitate towards pieces that are sophisticated and professional, yet relaxed and undone.

Who are your style icons? The first two that come to mind are Rosie Huntington-whiteley and Hailey Beiber. Another one I’m loving currently is Amelia Grey – I love her Y2K style.

What’s the oldest thing in your wardrobe?

My vintage black Chanel jacket, a very special piece of mine.

What are your favourite brands?

It would be the two classics of Saint Laurent and Chanel, but I love incorporating up-and-coming designers, and ones that are a little more under the radar. I’ve got my eye on Havre Studio currently.

Have you ever made a style faux pas?

I think anytime I’ve chosen style over comfort. My mind goes to one pair of heels that were way too high and I couldn’t walk.

What’s the most you have spent on an outfit?

Most recently, it would have to be the look I wore to this season’s Chanel show. When I saw the jumpsuit in-store in Paris, I knew it had to be the one.

What is the most surprising thing in (or about) your wardrobe?

I feel it could be quite surprising that I’m an incredibly selective buyer. When it comes to my wardrobe, I’m not impulsive and carefully consider the pieces that I choose to invest in.

Top three wardrobe must haves? My top three wardrobe must-haves are a fabulous blazer/ jacket; a strong assortment of neutrals; and an amazing pair of jeans. The latter of which I couldn’t have said was a set staple in my wardrobe prior to my move to Los Angeles.

What is the most sentimental item in your wardrobe?

A Bottega Veneta jacket from 2020. I wore it to the Bottega Veneta show in Milan which was one of the first major shows I had the honour of being invited to, it will always be a special piece to me.

What would you buy if money was no object? Oohh definitely a wide assortment of Hermes Mini Kelly bags.

Summer or winter Fashion? Summer 100 per cent.

How many pairs of shoes do you own? I would say it would be around the 50 mark.
