MESSAGE OF THE DAY:

Joan says preferential voting not fair as you don’t know where your preferences go? You do know if you number every box, only lazy voters let their preferences get distributed by others. John Mc

Instead of just paying compensation for those French subs, why don’t we buy French arms or farming equipment or whatever? Rayza

Albo’s new nickname is 007 he has zero experience, zero knowledge and we’ve probably got seven years of him. Chopper

Isn’t it bleeding obvious that the power problems we’re having are, at root, caused by governments selling the power generation to the highest bidder, who then spend as little as possible on it so they can recoup their dough. Just chickens coming home to roost when you think about it. Daz R/bay

Workers on the minimum wage earning more than $37,001 per annum will have to pay 32.5% of their increased wages in tax. Most gas exporters pay no tax.

Keeping immigration numbers low will help resolve many of the housing, health and other infrastructure and supply issues facing Australia at present.

How cheap is green energy, first you pay for solar panels then you are going to have to fork out another $15,000 to buy a power wall or be made to pay a sun tax. Now all they have to do is remove the subsidy on green energy and no one can afford it. Welcome to the blacked out future. Very sad.

The simple truth here is that the Titans, for whatever reason, look totally uncoached. Supporters never hear anything from the owners about these dismal performances. It’s plainly not good enough. Paul Vautin says that the players love the coach. If that’s true, the devil is in the detail. The same fifth tackle option from the half on every occasion is a major concern. Every play is so annoyingly predictable. Titans, before it’s too late, if you can’t change what’s going on, get a hardened NRL coach to take over this team, someone who will shake the dressing room walls at halftime to get some motivation back.

Cobblers2u, I wholeheartedly agree with you mate. Alfie Langer spends more time on the field now, than he did when he was playing. Don’t know of any other team sport where this is tolerated. Kwoozi.

I heard a Chamber of Commerce comment lamenting about the possible flow-on effect of the minimum wage rise. The comment suggested a marketdriven wage system was needed. If the wage system was driven by the market, as suggested, wages should have sky rocketed in the current labour shortage environment. They haven’t. So the system employers really want is the one that has been manipulated for years to keep wages stagnating.

Why does the NRL bother with Contracts for players or Coaches, when it seems those wanting out come and go with alarming regularity. Why bother with contracts? Jus Sayin

There should be a locals only can buy real estate from here on in on the Gold Coast, the interstate buyers have pumped up the prices to ridiculous levels. It should be governed.

GCCC has a parking rule which states, “Park or stop on a bicycle path etc “.So why is it that nothing is done with all the cars that are illegally parked on the bike path in Helensvale Road near the high school. So if a cyclists has an accident, because they are forced to use the road, take legal action the City Council for negligence?

Ned Kelly hasn’t died he has a dentist shop on Gold Coast. Last week had a couple fillings. Smidgen over half an hour in chair. Good service, very happy until pay the bill time and cashier hands me a bill in excess of $400. That is nearly $800 a hour. Back there next week for an inspection, will take bank manager with me. Bella.

No, Albo, it is not just a dollar for one hour’s work. It is $2080 per employee a year (40 hrs x 52 weeks). If a small business employs 10 employees that is $20,800. Maybe you can give it to some of them from the pay rise you just gave yourself and the other politicians. HR

If the Youth Justice Taskforce has been “able to work out how to break the cycle of reoffending” as the tough talking Qld Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll, stated on Brisbane radio this week, (GCB 16/6) then why is youth crime still rampant across the state? Megs

What will become of the kangaroos and koalas at the old Arundel Hills Country Club if it is allowed to be developed for housing? Hopefully they have not already commenced the cull rather than relocation. Would appreciate the Bulletin keeping us up to date. MB

Remind me when bats became more important than people. Jack

Please the next owners of the Pink Motel, now up for sale down at Coolangatta. Change the colour and get rid of the wall mural. They are hideous. The building did not look like that in the 60s. Jolly Roger

Disease spreading bats are now attacking us. So much for protecting the wild life, when it is we the human variety who need protection from them. As for a rescuer for Bats Qld saying bats are going through a starvation period due to the weather and less trees. Why don’t the filthy disease spreaders move out into the rainforests where they belong? Kenw.

QLD power crisis thank Peter Beattie who previously privatised our power suppliers, stating it will lead to much cheaper power. Top

To the person who did not sign off on Thursday 16th. Rates are the responsibility of the property owner, the rents being charged today are set by greed so no the person leasing should not pay for the rates. Rates have always been the responsibility of the owner and they are factored into the rents. Nan.

Oh dear, diddums & boohoo you poor unfortunate folk who’re TOTALLY FREAKING OUT about not being able to run your heaters & dishwashers! Sorry, 100% NO sympathy from here, far too many folk are unable to afford the luxury to either have or run either! Geezuz, what a bunch of horrid fkn morons, eh?

Come on GW!!! Beach bars ‘essential’ - you’re kidding. I’m not a greenie but I don’t see the need to copy other overseas destinations & there are already surf clubs overlooking the beach. Surely a point of difference would draw more people than advising we too have beach bars. We’re better than that.
