Estate to create 3000 new jobs

- KATHLEEN SKENE

A $500m new industrial estate that could support up to 3000 jobs has been launched in Stapylton.

The Logistx Business Park will provide much-needed vacant industrial space in the Yatala Enterprise Area between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

The staged development is beside land acquired by the state government for the Coomera Connector corridor, with developer Ekkopoint Properties saying it could support 3000 new jobs.

The estate will be created on an 87ha property at the intersection of Burnside Rd and Quinns Hill Rd East, less than 1km from the recently announced $500m Visy Glass facility.

Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate said the project would help the city attract new businesses and entice existing companies to expand.

“Access to rail and major arterial highways is a huge advantage and has seen this area of the city become a beacon for development over the past five years,’’ he said.

Shadforth Civil has started civil earthworks.

Logistx will offer blocks of land from 4000sq m to 5ha, and is expected to be completed in early 2023.

CBRE agents Myles Clentsmith and David Corke, along with Nick Evans and David Brisk of Colliers, have been appointed to the project.

“There is a massive under supply of ready to build vacant industrial land on the Gold Coast and this release is eagerly awaited by long term tenants, owner occupiers and developers as experienced operators know this is a great location with huge future potential,” Mr Corke said.

Mr Evans said the availability of fully-serviced industrial land between Brisbane and the Gold Coast was at a low.

“There is very little future supply in the pipeline with the strongest demand for industrial product witnessed in a generation,” he said.

“CBRE research reports overall average absorption of land across Brisbane precincts was 95ha per year, whereas the average supply of serviced land has been just 67ha.

“This trend is expected to continue in 2022.”
