What time do you wake up on a Saturday?

I love sleeping in for as long as possible, having a super hot shower while doing a vocal warm up, having breakfast and heading to the theatre ready for a double show day.

Where and when do you exercise?

My beautiful friend Priscilla does wonderful online pilates classes through her business P.S Health, which I love because always being in different cities I know I have access to great classes wherever I am.

What’s your go-to weekend breakfast?

I prefer having a really simple breakfast at home on the weekend but love going out for food on Sunday nights after the show to celebrate the end of the work week.

Favourite park/green space?

I love Orleigh Park, West End, because it’s a beautiful walk along the river and you forget how close to the city you are. It’s super picturesque, perfect for a picnic.

Local coffee haunt?

Cinnamon & Co, West End, is a beautiful vegan cafe and restaurant. I love their amazing leaf blend chais – my go-to – and their pastries.

Best spot for date night and why?

I love Highgate Hill Park for a night picnic because the Brisbane skyline view is spectacular. It’s such a nice space to just sit and enjoy a yummy home-packed dinner.

Best beach?

As a person who now lives in Queensland and knows a Queensland audience is reading this, it pains me to say the best beaches are actually on the west coast. I was born in Perth and think nothing will ever beat a beautiful summer morning swim at Leighton Beach, Fremantle.

Favourite live performance venue?

QPAC will always be my favourite performance venue because it’s the first place I saw a show when I first moved to Queensland. It is the place where I am constantly inspired and know it will be a great night out.

Favourite place to holiday or hidden treasure in Queensland?

Toowoomba is such an underrated holiday destination. It’s a place I want to get to spend more time in, going around Carnival of Flowers season (September), it is just magic seeing the town and people come alive.

What’s your perfect Saturday?

When I’m not working, my perfect Saturday would be a nice sleep in, pancakes in the sun in my back yard, then packing a day bag and going on an adventure with my partner Aaron, exploring places around Brisbane that we haven’t been to yet.

Shubshri Kandiah plays Ella in Cinderella, at the Lyric Theatre, QPAC, until Sep 3. qpac.com.au
