JAMIE ROCKITING TO MORE FILMS. VICKI? MAYBE

-

AN entrepreneur by definition is someone who takes on financial risks in the hope of a profit.

That is a too short way of describing the business life of Jamie Arscott who has just taken a giant step into film producing.

Primarily, his interests lay in the automotive industry and real estate but if he believes in a product or person then he invests.

“I came to o Sydney from m New Zealand d when I was 18 8 and got a job b selling cars on n Parramatta a Road and d very quickly y was earning great money,” he says.

“I thought of a new way to help people get easy car finance, which was also very successful. I kept working, investing and built a large car wholesale business in Australia, for which you need an encyclopaedic knowledge of cars and their values.

“Then I started buying and selling real estate. I was always trading – the art of the deal was my life.”

He met Vicki Scotts, his life and business partner, at the funeral of her brother-in-law Marc Hunter, the lead singer from Dragon, and a few years later they moved to Sanctuary Cove.

Fast forward to 2020 and Jamie met writer/director Tyler Atkins. “It’s a bit convoluted how it all came about but I loved the script Tyler had written for Bosch and Rockit about his troubled upbringing and I want to be involved.

“After talking it over with Vicki, we went for it. I’m not one who wants to look back and think, ‘I should have done that’. I didn’t know anything about the industry but the reaction from those who have seen it has been amazing.

“Matt Damon saw it with Luke Hemsworth, who stars in the film, and had tears in his eyes. I thought we had the right ingredients for a huge success and there are still many avenue streams to come in so we have to wait and see.”

Considering he and Vicki have spent eight months with no days off would they do a film again?

For Vicki, the answer is no but Jamie wants to do another two at least.

“Massive stress, lots of egos, bureaucracy and people who don’t honour their promises but it was a fantastic learning curve – I’d still do it again. I’ll just have to find someone to replace Vicki,” he laughed.

If they’re looking for a new storyline about a novice producer and first-time filmmaker, the making of Bosch and Rockit could be a winner.

Bosch and Rockit is in cinemas now.
