RACE 5 – Open Handicap (1350m)

-

General Dubai should find this easier than his last two starts in town and will be incredibly hard to beat up near the speed, carrying less weight. Swanston is the obvious danger following a tough win over the mile last start at Doomben. Magic Charlee is also a chance to notch up another win after a convincing victory at Toowoomba and had excuses in town the start prior. Red Bloom is back from a break and can get into the placings following some competitive runs in the city last campaign.

SELECTIONS: 3 General Dubai, 4 Swanston, 1 Magic Charlee, 5 Red Bloom

RACE 6 – Class 5 Handicap (1100m)

Azzareach should be primed for this first-up assignment following a recent trial win and is three-from-three at Aquis Park Gold Coast. The General is having his first Queensland start after a break and was only beaten a half-length when resuming on a heavy 10 last preparation. Hodgson is flying of late with his only recent defeat coming on the poly track when he was pestered in the lead before weakening late. Fuji Flyer is third-up fit and races well here at his home track.

SELECTIONS: 5 Azzareach, 2 The General, 3 Hodgson, 1 Fuji Flyer

RACE 7 – Benchmark 65 Handicap (1700m)

Avenue Of Stars shone brightly here two starts back before tackling city class and can get back into the winner’s circle. Diasonic was only beaten a couple of lengths in town last start following a narrow defeat here the start prior and appears the main danger. Laphroaig gets a 3kg claim after winning first-up and can threaten, especially if the track ends up in the heavy range. Call Me Legend ran-on well from last after finding trouble last start, include in all multiples.

SELECTIONS: 4 Avenue Of Stars, 5 Diasonic, 6 Laphroaig, 1 Call Me Legend

RACE 8 – Class 2 Handicap (1350m)

Spicy Sonic should take plenty of improvement from his frontrunning maiden win last start and is likely to push forward from the wide draw. Cool Encounter left quite the impression when dominantly winning his first Queensland start at Dalby last time out and is a genuine threat. Pizzo landed the prize at Townsville last start and can make it back-toback victories if he does not run at Toowoomba. Dis Go Boom comes off a fighting win at Toowoomba and should be competitive here again.

SELECTIONS: 4 Spicy Sonic, 3 Cool Encounter, 2 Pizzo, 1 Dis Go Boom
