Sean Venturi

34, founder and director Venroy

- Fashion editor ANNABEL FALCO

Colourful, casual and curated describe Venroy director Sean Venturi’s wardrobe where bold boardshorts, sneakers and 1970s influences form the basis of his everyday fits. Favouring comfort, Sean’s fashion choices are bold but efficient where his ensemble can take him from gym to beach to bar and beyond. Finishing off with a mix of sentimental and designer accessories, Sean’s wardrobe tour is a refreshing one

– offering plenty of understated style inspiration.

How would you describe your personal style?

I always dress to feel relaxed and comfortable.

Who are your style icons? Aristotle Onassis, Alain Delon, Gianni Agnelli and James Bond.

What’s the oldest thing in your wardrobe?

The first boardshort sample made for Venroy back in 2010.

What are your favourite brands?

Dries Van Noten and Uniqlo.

Prada,

Have you ever made a style faux pas? I prefer to underdress rather than overdress.

What’s the most you have spent on an outfit?

A Saint Laurent black tie suit with a Giorgio Armani dress shirt.

Top three wardrobe must haves? Swim shorts that you can exercise in, a linen shirt and zip-neck sweater – you can basically do anything in these (perhaps with the addition of a lounge chino).

Most sentimental item in your wardrobe?

My gold chain which my Nonna and Nonno gave me when I was born. This year my parents travelled to Capri to visit the new Venroy store and bought me a second pendant to add to my necklace.

What would you buy if money was no object?

Can Lis – the holiday home of Jorn Utzon which he designed and built in Mallorca.

Is there anything in your wardrobe you have regretted throwing out? When travelling I often meet interesting people and I have a bad habit of (literally) gifting the shirt off my back to new friends. This year while away I parted ways with two of my favourite pieces from Venroy past collections: a silk shirt and a knitted tank. We don’t recut styles, so they will have to live on through new friends!

Casual or cocktail?

Casual.

Sneakers or loafers?

Sneakers.

Summer or winter fashion? Summer. Although I am enjoying designing winter collections more and more.

How many pairs of shoes do you own? I am a self-professed sneakerhead. As sneakers are one of the few fashion items that we don’t make, I enjoy buying them probably a little too much. If I find a shoe I really like, I often buy multiple in different colourways.

Favourite fashion era? 1970s.

Best designer fashion purchase this year? A Prada cross-body bag for travel.

Best bargain fashion purchase this year?

I have just ordered one of Brett Lloyd’s charity T-shirts, supporting local businesses in Naples.
