People who are found guilty of deliberately damaging other people’s property should be sentence to prison until THEY have TOTALLY paid for the damage they caused..regardles the length of time it may take. This attitude of let the insurance company pay doesn’t cop with me and guess million of others. Squizz.

The perpetually intellectually inconsistent Joe Hildebrand (GCB, 1/2) thinks more bureaucrats in Canberra will do more for Aboriginals than adding 30 years to their lives with civilisation ever did. He also thinks the banksters’ emissions trading scheme that is designed to impoverish common folk, including aboriginals, while making the rich richer is a good thing. Joe thinks he’s a wit, but he’s only half right. Paulie, Kanimbla

Poor Kenw, wrong yet again. The UK has not had a Labour government since 2010. Canada has 2 main parties. The Liberals and Conservatives with the Liberals ruling for many years. So, who has created the mess you talk about. Paulj

Cars, trucks etc. pay to use roads via petrol tax, rego. etc. And we are licensed to do so. Not so for bicycle riders, e scooters, e bikes and the like. They have no requirement to know road rules or pass a test. How is that fair? How is this safe? And what about children riding to school? How can they understand how to be safe on our roads? Martin Oxenford

Can anyone enlighten me, without be half smart, why these sailing boat and house boat owners have to park their vessels so close to the beach or even on the beach in some instances. Don’t get me started on the bloody dingys/ tenders left willy nilly all over the beach as well.

You gotta laugh. A bloke caught riding a bike that hasn’t held a licence since 1980. Penalty, licence disqualified for two years and three months. So what? Barney

$200B developments in Garfield! I hope council forces developer to build OFF STREET FOYER/ court yards where people can be dropped of and picked up as Garfield terrace has NO PARKING. Unlike some already that exist! And not in underground parking because they are to low if you have to use a van to pickup people. GC cabie.

Poor old Roy Johnson. Doesn’t like being called a conspiracy theorist- but if the shoe fits. Pedro

I think I speak on behalf of all residents when I say that Im glad that the majority of Councillors finally woke up and voted to stop the sale of Bruce Bishop Capark. I truly hope that its not just because its “maybe” now profitable? But even if it wasnt profitable it shouldnt matter, its a service to us residents and visitors. How much do you think it costs to run libraries or the community centres. They are not profitable either, but its okay as they are providing a service to the community! Thats what we pay our rates for! Angry Local.

My great great great great grandfather didn’t cone here voluntarily from England. He was a convict but went on to do well in this country of opportunity. This is MY country and I don’t need any smoking ceremony to welcome me to it. Jm

Anyone with a dog off its leash in a non designated beach area should be fined $250. Second offense $1500 and the dog impounded for 6 months. SJH

Now the housing market is now so tight in the

City that everyone is being encouraged to rent out their spare rooms to students. And a whole heap more Chinese students will be arriving soon due to changes in CCP policy. What is being done to fix this housing situation?

Kenw , Albo’s Labour Government has “Lost Control “since the election. One would think that they can see how Governments of NZ Labour, Canada Labour and UK Labour placed those countries in economic crisis. Albo’s crew has already made a great mess to daily living costs . What’s going to happen when the coal and gas power dry up . ? Wind and Solar just won’t cut the mustard. Watching tennis all day won’t solve Australia’s problems. KB Tweed

If you vote for the Voice be prepared for a big push to pay compensation. Redneck

Albo jacks up tax on beer ($12 schooners) energy prices up, he just smiles and keeps on travelling. This dude has more front than a rat with a gold tooth. Johnbrew

So the employer has to pay for domestic violence in the home outside of work hours. Why not glean the perpetrators for the 10 days paid leave. They might think twice before bashing people. The employer will factor any extra costs in the price of goods and services fuelling inflation.

Cardinal Pell was a controversial figure but his most significant claim to fame was his admission on ABC Q&A that the Catholic Church does not follow the Bible and support Richard Dawkins evolution religion. Funny how this is not front page

Aussie Gretal. New Zealand has always been a country of”last person out, please switch off the lights” expect this to increase. Enjoy your cold tofu. Jeff

Recent photos of Brittney Higgins on holiday at a luxury resort- no mental depression in sight. Millions of dollars really do make you feel better. Joan

“Australia Day is an affront to all non English people”? Really? Foreigners come here for the wonderful benefits afforded us by early settlement, and those people should be celebrated. Can’t change history. Flicka

Warren Mundines argument that migrants should be given special recognition to be recognised in the constitution is an odd argument. It was migrants and their children that wrote the constitution. Ironically leaving him and his First Nations ancestors out of it.

Tom Tate stop being so arrogant. Eddy Sarroff has a right to have an opinion on the car park debate as he is a ratepayer & took time to go to the council meeting. You are suppose to listen to our comments, not dismiss them arrogantly. By the way, if you aren’t voting on this, why do you participate in the debate - to try to sway councillors?

When the State LNP select candidates for the next election could they please select one to replace “retired” but sitting member for Mermaid Beach, Ray Stevens. Barry. L.

Peter Johnson, Robina. Clearly you haven’t driven through Palm Beach on a weekend lately. Any chance to get cars off the road with light rail, needs to happen. It’s a joke down here, a total carpark. Even the old trams in Melbourne work well. Keep the same amount of lanes but add rail to jump on jump off. Drive through Palmy this weekend will you.

Ajs - so you are voting yes along with Lydia Thorpe and her band who on Australia Day in Melbourne held the most disgusting and vile rally I have ever witnessed. She even declared war on us while every second word began with an f or a c. Stan Forgham

Mark Bailey the QTM keeps harping on about how successful the LR is with 65 million trips so far(highly doubtful or fudged figures),and will guarantee that 2 lanes of traffic each way through Palm Beach remains ,when models shown show only one lane will remain in one direction and 2 on the other.his word is as good as Albo’s with his electricity promise of $275 reduction.just build a road 4 lane road tunnel from creek to creek to not only avoid 10 sets of traffic lights but allow 1 lane to remain on both sides with bike and parking lanes as well for those who don’t want or need to bypass the area.an exit and entry ramp from the M1 at 19th avenue won’t solve the congestion problem in future and neither will the LR on it’s own.ds.

Love paying for cash for my petrol at the servo. Sends them into a frenzy trying to work out the change to give me. Gold! Noticer

Has anybody else noticed the decline of the trees along the seafront walkway. It appears that wherever there is a new building going up along the beach front the trees in the sand dunes are disappearing. Council used to be very very strict
