LION DOWN

- Brian Wood, via email

What a gut-wrenching couple of articles in the January issue of Wheels… Holden’s Australian design director reduced to revealing someone else’s ‘Commodore’ with ‘It’s Opel’s design, so give them the credit’. Then an article on HSV’S ‘future’ stating there’d be no Commodore and that they would be focussing on ‘exciting, aspirational’ vehicles… like what, putting wings on a Trax? The final blow was the revelation that the biggest Commodore engine would be the atmo V6. In 2018, a 2.0-litre turbo should have something north of 200kw and 400Nm, rendering the old V6 completely irrelevant and unnecessary.
