The arrival of the X1 in 2015 marked the debut of the thennew 2.0-litre B48 engine, which replaced the N20 unit, and has subsequently been fitted to BMW’S 2, 3, 4 and recently launched 5 Series, and even in hybrid application in the 7 Series, as well as doing duty across the entire Mini range. Talk about a broad portfolio. The differences in outputs in the various applications are down to three core variables: camshafts, boost and compression ratio.
