BREEZE BLOCKS

Lamborghini’s patented active aero system is controlled by the car’s electronic brain (ANIMA in Lambo speak), which monitors throttle inputs, steering angle and yaw rates in real time. The system is so reactive it can activate the flaps in the front bar and the hollow forged carbonfibre rear wing in less than half a second. Aero vectoring, which shuts off airflow through one side of the rear wing to encourage what R& D boss Maurizio Reggiani calls “a kind of automatic steering”, is only functional in balls-out Corsa mode. In Sport, the wing operates as normal, though more torque is sent to the rear axle to give a greater RWD feel. The electronic nanny is also looser to promote tail-out slides. Interestingly, Reggiani revealed Lamborghini did test aero vectoring at the front of the car but found it made the handling too nervous. Oh, and fun fact: Ala is also the Italian word for wing.
