The tortuous Skenes Creek Road has long been a magnet for enthusiast drivers, but it pays to exercise restraint on the 5km section of the Great Ocean Road between Apollo Bay and Skenes Creek settlement. During the last quarter of 2016, a mobile speed camera unit snapped more than 2400 drivers speeding through this 60km/h accident blackspot, making it the only mobile unit to make Victoria’s top 50 busiest speed cameras that year. Operating three hours a day, once a week, it racked up 51 tickets every hour.
