No, your eyes are not deceiving you. And no, Reese Witherspoon, 40, has not had herself cloned. But it’s a fair assumption given the eye-popping physical similarity that Ava Phillippe, her 17-yearold daughter with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, bears to her famous mother.

At the Los Angeles premiere of Witherspoon’s TV series Big Little Lies on Feb. 7, the pair turned heads when they hit the carpet looking more like twins than a mother-daughter duo. The two often wear complementary clothing that emphasises their striking resemblance to one another, and this event was no different—each wore a cocktail dress that was belted at the waist, Ava in a patterned gold Haney and her mum in an appliqué-covered Elie Saab.

“People come up to her [all the time],”

Witherspoon told E! News before revealing that at another premiere, “they were congratulating her on her performance. She’s like, ‘I’m not in the movie!’ ” (She was also coy when probed about Ava’s romantic life, batting the question away with a smile: “You’d have to ask her. I’m not going to get into her personal business.”)

While she may look like her mother (and a lot like her father, for that matter) she does not seem keen to follow their career path. After making her solo red-carpet debut in September in support of fellow celebrity scion Lily Rose Depp’s campaign for their No.5 L’eau fragrance, there were rumblings Phillippe might join the fashion parade. For now, she’s happy in a supporting role. After the Big Little Lies event, she posted she was “so proud of my awesome mama and her passion for this project. It is so nice to see these wonderful, talented women in roles just as dynamic as they are.”
