By now, Jennifer Aniston knows what she likes. For her 48th birthday on Feb. 11, she returned to her famously favourite position: poolside in Los Cabos, Mexico. “With the nonstop Los Angeles rain storms, Jen was very happy to celebrate her birthday in the sun,” a source tells WHO. “She is renting an oceanfront villa. She loves Cabo. She was excited about the getaway.”

Arriving in Mexico via private jet, the actress was joined by husband Justin Theroux, 45, friend —and Friends co-star—courteney Cox, 52, and her on-again fiancé, musician Johnny Mcdaid, 40. “She was next to Courteney on a chaise lounge for most of the day, drinking Smart Water and jumping in and out of the infinity pool,” another source told Us Weekly. “She

seemed to be right in her element and happy to be surrounded by her best friends.”

Professionally, she’s also hitting her stride. Debuting her Iraq war drama The Yellow Birds at the Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 21, “It’s hard, but it’s beautiful,” she said. Still, good times are a priority. “Look, here’s the truth,” she added. “I love comedy. It’s something that makes me happy, it brings me joy, it brings people joy. We live in a pretty dark world as it is. I’d rather laugh all day than cry all day.”

Which is why she has also hinted at a move to TV. “At this point in my career, I want to be part of wonderful stories, exciting characters, and also just having a good time,” she told Variety. “When you’re in your 20s, going away from home was an adventure—meeting new people, seeing other parts of the country or world was so exciting ... Now it’s really about wanting to stay closer to home and just enjoying your time.”

And home is where the heart is. During her birthday trip, “Justin and Jen were very loving and always had their arms wrapped around each other,” the Us insider said. “They seem enamoured with one another and like they are still in the honeymoon phase.” Their secret? According to Theroux, “We appreciate each other’s sense of humour, we respect one another and we get along,” he says. “It sounds simple but it’s true.”
