Making his acting debut in 2010, the 42-year-old Sons of Anarchy star now looks out for Kiefer Sutherland’s family as Secret Service Agent Mike Ritter in Season 2 of the Netflix political drama Designated Survivor.

HE’S TACKLED PRO SPORT Named after 1970s NFL star quarterback Daryle Lamonica, Garrett left college to pursue gridiron professionally, but did not find success. Soon after, he moved to LA and enrolled in 2 acting classes. THEN HE DELIVERED Garrett’s first taste of Hollywood came when he met the casts of Friends and Everybody Loves Raymond on his Fedex route. “When I eventually got into acting, I did a couple of shows at the Warner Bros lot,” Garrett says, “and some of the producers and executives recognised me as ‘the mail guy.’” 3 NOW HE PRACTISES YOGA Although he says, “You have to take care of yourself and look the part to be the part,” Garrett’s favourite routine is less muscle-intense. “I love yoga!” he confesses. “I love the mental and physical benefits I 4 get from it.” BUT HE ALSO HAS AN ARTSY SIDE The avid comic-book collector has had his own sketches exhibited in galleries in his native San Francisco. “I just love drawing and graphic illustrations,” 5 he says. AND LIKES TO WORK BEHIND THE SCENES Garrett, who produced the 2016 rom-com Mouthpiece, directed by pal David Merritt II, says, “I think I want to do it again.”

“I have a pretty big collection of comic books at home,” says Garrett, also an illustrator. “I like to do it still when I’m bored.”
