The star takes more cancer precautions

CHRISTINA APPLEGATE HAS revealed she had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed last month in a bid to prevent cancer. Talking to Today.com on Oct. 11, “My cousin passed away from ovarian cancer in 2008. I could prevent that,” she said. “That’s how I’ve taken control of everything. It’s a relief. That’s one other thing off the table. Now, let’s hope I don’t get hit by a bus.”

The actress and stay-at-home mother, who has the BRCA1 gene mutation that increases her cancer risk, had a double mastectomy in 2008 after being diagnosed with breast cancer. “The chances that my daughter is BRCA positive are very high,” said Applegate, 45, of Sadie, 6 (her husband is musician Martyn Lenoble, 48). “In 20 years, she’ll have to start getting tested. Hopefully by then there will be advancements.”

However, “I feel good,” she said. “I keep my life really simple. I’m very fortunate right now to have that freedom to not work ... and be able to take a minute and it’s been wonderful.”

?? ?? Her cancer diagnosis forced Applegate (on Aug. 16) to change her life. “I used to be a stressed-out person,” she said.
