Hiking tragedy in British Columbia
A search team has found the remains of Melburnian Sophie Dowsley, 34, who went missing while hiking with her boyfriend in the Canadian wilderness. Dowsley, who had a Bachelor of Commerce and worked as a senior administration assistant in Canada, and her Canadian partner Gregory Tiffin, 44, disappeared on July 10 while hiking near Statlu Falls in British Columbia. Tiffin’s body was found at the base of the waterfall on July 19. It is believed he fell to his death. Having confirmed Dowsley’s identity, authorities announced on Oct. 11 that her body was found on Sept. 23. During what he described as an “extremely difficult time,” Dowsley’s brother, Jamie, thanked Canadian authorities for putting “your lives at risk to find Sophie,” he said.
