LUKE JACOBZ
The 36-year-old actor and host will serve as a tour guide in Seven’s Instant Hotel, where 10 teams will travel across Australia staying in, and critiquing, each other’s homemade holiday accommodation. Jacobz tells WHO’S Carly Bass about his own adventures away from home.
What’s it like to work on Instant Hotel? It’s been really nice to see different homes. The architecture and the styling, and the suburbs I’ve never heard of, suddenly you’re like, “Wow, this is a great place.”
What do you look for when finding accommodation?
The last place I stayed was in the Napa Valley near San Francisco. We went to a few different vineyards and ended up getting food and taking it back to the Airbnb and cooking it. I just like to be central to food, basically!
Are you a neat packer?
One hundred per cent. When I travel, my bag has a position for everything. It’s one of those things that if someone asks if I have a hidden talent that nobody knows about, mine is packing a suitcase.
What’s been your worst hotel experience?
I was only 19 and I was in Amsterdam. I thought I’d treat myself and spend the last money I had on a good hotel. When I checked in and went to my room, I discovered my bag didn’t even fit anywhere. Outside of my window was this bright, flashing Coca-cola sign and I ended up having to take off the sheets on my bed to cover it, so I slept with no blankets. It was awful!
