Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber
The singer splits from The Weeknd amid cosy catch-ups with her ex, but she’s not back on with Bieber—yet JUSTIN
SITTING OPPOSITE EACH other for Sunday breakfast in a cafe in Westlake Village, Los Angeles, on Oct. 29, Justin Bieber and ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez were spotted deep in conversation. The next day, sources confirmed to WHO that Gomez and her boyfriend of 10 months, The Weeknd (né Abel Tesfaye), had called it quits. Is it a case of join the dots? Not according to one insider, telling WHO there’s no romance between the former sweethearts—at least not yet: “She and Abel have been going back and forth for a few months about their relationship. It’s over for now, but they’re still in touch.”
Lately, Gomez, 25, and Bieber, 23, have also been in touch. After their Sunday morning catch-up, the exes—they dated from 2011 to 2014—attended church, and earlier in the week Bieber was spotted at her house. Sources tell WHO the pair reconnected when Bieber reached out to his ex after learning of her kidney transplant, which she revealed in September. “He has changed a lot in the past few months. He is a very different person,” says a friend of the “Love Yourself” singer. “They have a lot to talk about and are having fun catching up.”
Not so fun, though, for Gomez’s loved ones, reveals the friend. “Justin is aware Selena’s family is not thrilled they are hanging out.” And yet, it appears the pop heartthrob is determined to stay in his ex’s orbit. Says the pal: “Justin hopes he can prove to them that he has changed.”
