Beyoncé & Jay-z CHEATING SCANDAL
WHY SHE FORGAVE HIM
After weathering a cheating scandal, Beyoncé and Jay-z are still “Crazy in Love”— but it took a lot of work for the power couple to mend their fractured marriage. In a recent interview with T: The
New York Times Style Magazine, the rapper, 48, said he was unfaithful to his wife of nine years because he had “shut down emotionally.”
Though their strained relationship fuelled more than one headline in recent years—jay-z cheating rumours were only exacerbated by his notorious squabble with sister-in-law Solange in a lift in 2014 (see box)—the pair eventually worked through their heartbreak in therapy. “The hardest thing is seeing pain on someone’s face that you caused,” Jay-z said.
Music also served as an emotional outlet. “We were using our art almost like a therapy session,” Jay-z said of both Beyoncé’s 2016 album, Lemonade, and his June release, 4:44. Listening to the raw records was “uncomfortable,” he added, but “we really have a healthy respect for one another’s craft.” Now, Beyoncé, 36, and her husband “are very proud that they overcame huge marital issues, and happy they were able to move on as a family,” says an insider. A focus on their daughter may have been their saving grace. “If it’s wasn’t for Blue Ivy, they might not be together,” the insider adds of the 5-year-old. “It was very rough for them to stay married. She was struggling to move on and forgive. But keeping her family together was very important.”
Since welcoming twins Rumi and Sir in June, the duo “are both very happy to still be together,” adds the insider. “Having more babies made them even closer.”
