MIRANDA KERR
The model kicks back as she prepares for her second child.
Aradiant Miranda Kerr found a novel way to celebrate Australia Day— spending a laid-back day at Disneyland with son Flynn and husband Evan Spiegel. Looking stylish and comfortable in a black babydoll dress teamed with white sneakers, the pregnant modelturned-ceo kept a firm hold of 7-year-old Flynn’s hand, as the family—plus four bodyguards, two VIP tour guides and a nanny—explored the happiest place on earth.
These are indeed happy days for Kerr. Nine months after their wedding, Kerr, 34, and the billionaire co-founder of Snapchat Spiegel, 27, are expecting their first child together—as they announced in November (they have not revealed the due date). The “newest member of the family” will make a big brother of Flynn, the son Kerr shares with ex-husband Orlando Bloom. The Australian-born, Los Angeles-based star is never happier than “when I’m with my boys,” she told Net-a-porter’s magazine The Edit in September, plucking a memory of “driving home from the airport and I was in between Flynn and Evan, holding both of their hands. We were singing silly.”
Her “boys,” along with her other “baby”— Kora Organics, the successful skincare company she founded in 2006—are top of her list these days. Last year, the Victoria’s Secret Angel revealed she was stepping back from the catwalk and following Spiegel’s advice to concentrate on her business. “I’ve modelled for 20 years, it’s just not a priority anymore,” she told The Edit. “Now, if an opportunity comes up, I think, ‘Is this in the best interests of my family?’ and ‘ Will this interrupt Kora?’ ”
Nesting ahead of the birth of her second child, Kerr’s routine involves taking plenty of time out to nurture body, mind and spirit, as she shares in an online video series with Harper’s Bazaar magazine. Rising at 6 AM, Kerr squeezes in a meditation session “before my son wakes up,” and works out three to four times a week, walking, swimming, doing Pilates and Kundalini yoga. The latter is key right now, she said: “It really teaches you that endurance and that stamina that you need to kind of get through not just everyday challenges but, like, especially childbirth.”
She also favours “body-healing massages” and facials with Korean therapist Sidney Yoon, a former monk who was present at Flynn’s birth, she revealed.
“Candles are on ... we catch up on each other’s day”
Always committed to her nutrition, Kerr’s focus right now is on “local and organic produce” such as grapefruit to help with her nausea. “Going grocery shopping to me is just so much fun,” she said.
It’s all part of the cosy routines the A-lister treasures at this stage of her life. Not one for TV—“I prefer to curl up and read a book”—she enjoys cooking, baking and having trusted friends over while Spiegel takes charge of the barbecue. (Their wedding last May was also an intimate, at-home occasion, with 40 friends attending the stylish backyard celebration.)
Socialising aside, Kerr makes an occasion out of a quiet night in with her husband: “By the time I get Flynn ready for bed and have dinner, like read him his books, he gets to sleep, then I run a nice bath,” she told The Kyle and Jackie O Show. “And then I’ll get in the bath afterwards, after I’ve put him to bed, and that’s my special time, when I have a nice bath. By that time Evan’s home and then we catch up,” she said. “The candles are on … and we get to chat and catch up on each other’s day.”
As she counts down the weeks to welcoming their baby, Kerr is revelling in the family she and Spiegel are creating. Asked what inspires her in an interview with In Style last year, Kerr answered, “Nature, my husband and my family.” And her absolute most prized possession? “My wedding ring.”
