Actress and Revlon ambassador Gal Gadot shares her thoughts on beauty and empowering women

You’ve recently been named as the face of Revlon. What do you love about the brand?

Revlon was the first makeup brand that I was really familiar with. It’s accessible, iconic and innovative. It was the first brand [in 1973] to release an ad with a woman wearing pants. It was a big deal.

Your first campaign, Live Boldly, encourages self-expression. What does that mean to you?

For me, it’s all about knowing what you want and going for it, even though there may be challenges. When you overcome those challenges, you feel unstoppable. And free.

In that vein, you have been vocal about the Time’s Up initiative and you stood in solidarity with other stars at the Golden Globes, what was that experience like?

Powerful. Impactful. Just seeing all the women and men who came together for this was really inspiring. I was very proud to be there. What amazes me is that the majority of the people understand the change and want it. We just need to apply it, but it does feel like it’s shifting towards a really good place. I can only continue to support it 1,000 per cent.

What’s your stance on social media?

It’s a way for me to engage with my fans and give people a better understanding of who I really am. It’s in my control and feels like it’s mine—and that’s good.

When you do get a chance to escape the public eye, what do you do?

I spend it with my daughters [Alma, 6, and Maya, 11 months, with husband Yaron Versano], my family.

As they grow older, how will you instil confidence in them?

By talking to them about self-esteem and loving themselves. I like to make them feel capable and worthy—that’s the biggest thing for me.
