LAST SUNSET I WATCHED

A couple of days ago in New York. My wife [Michelle Schumacher] and I were looking at real estate, and we happened to catch a beautiful sunset out the window. We’re possibly relocating there one day.

LAST TIME I WON SOMETHING

Three years ago, when every time I turned around someone was handing me a trophy [for Whiplash]. My favourite is the BAFTA, which is like a Greek mask—they’re displayed with masks that our kids made when they studied Greek culture in sixth grade. It was a fun year to be me.

LAST CLASS I TOOK

The last actual class I took was probably my piano functional exam in 1978 [in music school]. You basically play a few scales and do the world’s simplest sight-reading. The bare minimum.

LAST DIY PROJECT

I was just doing some very basic bicycle repairs yesterday—fixing the kickstand and airing the tyres. We like to bike out here in LA, in places that are not suicidal like up and down the canyons or busy streets.

LAST TIME I DANCED

With our 3-year-old niece at Christmas. Oh, there’s wiggling, there’s bouncing, all four limbs going in four different directions.

The actor, 63, stars in spy thriller ‘Counterpart’ (Saturdays at 10.30 PM on SBS on Demand).
