WHO

WILMER VALDERRAMA

-

The Miami-born actor, 38, gained fame as Fez on the 1998 sitcom That ‘70s Show and now plays undercover agent Nick Torres on Ten’s NCIS. He takes a grilling from WHO’S Gavin Scott.

Would you make a good NCIS agent? You know, I respect the people that wear a badge too much to pretend like I would. So definitely not—it takes a very special individual to create a set of skills that make you an NCIS agent or any agent of armed forces. My hat is off to those individuals.

Are you calm under pressure?

I definitely have an eerie calmness to handling drama. For some reason I have a very steady hand—i handle a crisis with a deep breath rather than a panic.

Do you have a good built-in lie detector?

Yeah. As an actor, you have to. It’s hard for people to lie to me because I have made so many choices as characters in the past that I can see when people set up their scenarios. But people don’t really lie to me so often—i don’t put myself in situations where they have to.

How’s your attention to detail?

I don’t think it’s great. I’m the big picture guy—the small details to me have always been a waste of time. But it all depends on the subject, right? Little details in a relationship are critically important but little details when it comes to living life seems to me to be a form of dwelling.

Can you tell if people want to get to know you for the right reasons and not just because of fame?

If you go around dwelling on “does this person like me for who I am or not?” then you don’t live life free. You just let yourself get exposed to friendships that hopefully make you better or inspire you. I have a shorthand with life now—after so many years, I don’t need to make three circles around the block to tell what’s around the third corner.
