She’s best known for taking out the title of Australian Idol in 2004. But with her TV acting debut Street Smart (airs Sundays, 8 PM on Ten), Casey Donovan, 30, tells WHO’S Clare Rigden she is determined to prove that she has more to offer than her amazing pipes!

Starring in a new TV series is a far cry from your Uber driving days.

I thought I’d be driving Uber for another two years. But life throws you in weird and wacky directions, and you’ve just got to go with the flow and see what happens.

Have you always wanted to do acting?

It is something I’ve wanted to try for a long time. I have been auditioning for years for different things and I don’t think I ever really fit the part. But this character—she fit me like a glove.

Has life been busier since you won I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

It put me back into the big, bad world again. It’s fun to be back doing things and getting my career back on track.

Would you say you live fearlessly?

I am a very open and honest person, so for me there is nothing to fear when you live truthfully. You can’t stuff up when you are telling the truth but that’s not to say that I’m not scared of a lot of things in this crazy world!

Are you dating anyone special?

Not at the moment. It would be nice to come home and see someone, but I don’t have to answer to anyone and that is really nice.

Would you ever go overseas to try your luck?

Look, I would love to get out of Australia and go and try my hand at music overseas. That is definitely something on the cards when I find a spare moment.
