Matty J and Laura Byrne reveal their exciting plans

- By Kietley Isrin

More often than not, reality TV couples don’t stand the test of time but preparing for an adventureladen trip to New Zealand, loved-up pair Matty Johnson and Laura Byrne couldn’t be happier. “Travel is something both Laura and I have been passionate about, even before we were together,” Johnson, in an interview with Byrne, tells WHO. “So to be able to do it together has been amazing.”

For the couple who got together in front of the Australian viewing public on the 2017 season of The Bachelor impromptu trips abroad may soon be a thing of the past. “We always talk about starting a family,” Byrne says. “Matty wants them right now.” But it’s not just Johnson who is keen, with jewellery designer Byrne, who opened her store Tonimay in Sydney’s Paddington earlier this year, saying, with a laugh, “I’m very clucky.”

“To be honest, Matty and I talk more about having children than we do about marriage so we’ll probably have kids first,” continues Byrne, who despite social pressure does not see marriage as high on her priority list. “For me personally, as long as I’m with a man that I love and we have a family, that’s all that matters,” she says.

While the duo have no plans to wed anytime

soon, they can’t wait to move in together later this month. “We’ve spent forever spending one night at my place and one night at Matty’s so it will be nice to be in the one place,” Byrne says. For now, the brunette will live with the marketing manager at his home in Bondi in Sydney’s eastern suburbs until the couple find their own place.

Which might be easier said than done, with Byrne conceding her boyfriend has a few “diva demands”: “Matty has a checklist of what he wants the place to be like, whereas I’ll live anywhere,” the 32-year-old says with a laugh. “I need to live by the beach,” Johnson, 31, concedes. “And I need a lock-up garage and two bedrooms.” Asked if that extra bedroom was for a nursery, “We would love to have two kids—a boy and a girl,” Byrne says. “That would be my dream,” Johnson agrees. “A boy first then a girl.”

In the meantime, the pair are happy living in their “love bubble” away from prying eyes. “Coming out of The Bachelor, we just wanted to really get on with our lives and be a normal couple,” Johnson explains. “It’s important to us to be just like anybody else in a relationship and it’s what makes us work.”

As for advice for this season’s Bachelor, Nick Cummins, and the women vying for his heart (the show airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7.30 PM on Ten), Byrne and Johnson both advise, “Just have fun with it,” and having faced the gamut of opinion on their relationship, “Don’t get too wrapped up in all the negative things on social media,” Byrne says. change “If you your take life,” it seriously Johnson enough, adds. “It it changed could mine and I couldn’t be happier. Every day I wake up and I can’t imagine not having Laura next to me. I just fall more and more in love with her everyday.”
