The troubled star breaks his silence following his rehab stint THE COMEDIAN AND MODEL DETAINED AT A PROTEST
AFTER SPENDING 40 DAYS IN a rehab centre, Ben Affleck has finally broken his silence. In a lengthy Instagram post, Jennifer Garner’s ex poured his heart out thanking those around him for their support. “The support I have received from my family, colleagues and fans means more to me than I can say. It’s given me the strength and support to speak about my illness with others,” Affleck wrote. “Battling any addiction is a lifelong and difficult struggle. Because of that, one is never really in or out of treatment. It is a fulltime commitment. I am fighting for myself and my family. So many people have reached out on social media and spoken about their own journeys with addiction. To those people, I want to say thank you. Your strength is inspiring and is supporting me in ways I didn’t think was possible. It helps to know I am not alone.”
Affleck entered rehab in August after Garner was seen picking him up to drive him to the rehab centre. According to TMZ, the invention to enter rehab again was staged by Garner herself.
“As I’ve had to remind myself, if you have a problem, getting help is a sign of courage, not weakness or failure,” Affleck continued.
The father-of-three first entered rehab in 2001 and years later confessed he was struggling with alcohol addiction. A source recently told WHO that Affleck appeared to be treating this occasion differently. “Ben seems to take this rehab visit more seriously,” the insider revealed. “This time is different. He doesn’t want his kids to have to go through this again. Ben is really trying very hard to get better.”
Following Affleck’s post, it was revealed the couple’s divorce has now been finalised, after Garner filed documents to expedite proceedings. The couple first filed for divorce in 2017, but stalled its formalisation until Affleck could work on his fitness to share custody of their children Violet, Seraphina and Samuel. •
COMEDIAN AMY SCHUMER AND MODEL EMILY Ratajkowski were arrested after protesting about Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Schumer was seen holding a “We Believe Anita Hill,” sign, and posted various videos on Twitter at the event, including one where she addressed the camera saying, “Hi Zola, I’m here with your mom, she loves you very much, I think we’re gonna get arrested and we’re so proud of you.”
Many other celebrities were involved in the protest. Ratajkowski later shared on Twitter: “Today I was arrested protesting the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, a man who has been accused by multiple women of sexual assault. Men who hurt women can no longer be placed in positions of power.” •
