Days after Kim Porter’s death, her ex speaks up
AFTER REMAINING SILENT for three days following the death of his ex-partner, Sean “Diddy” Combs has taken to Twitter to express his heartbreak over the loss of the mother of three of his children. “I’ve been trying to wake up out of this nightmare. But I haven’t,” the 49-year-old rapper wrote. “We were more than best friends. We were more than soulmates.”
Model and actress Kim Porter, 47, was reportedly found dead at her Toluca Lake home in Los Angeles on Nov. 15. Combs’ representative, Cindi Berger, said in a statement to TMZ: “Sadly, I can confirm the passing of Kim Porter. I ask that you give the families privacy at this time.”
According to TMZ, Porter went into cardiac arrest after suffering flu-like symptoms for several weeks but the exact cause of her death is yet to be determined.
Combs and Porter began their on-again, off-again relationship during the ’90s and welcomed their first child, Christian Casey, in 1998. After splitting in 1999, the pair reconciled a few years later before Porter gave birth to their twin daughters, D’lila Star and Jessie James, in 2006. Combs also helped to raise Porter’s other son, Quincy Brown. After the couple officially went their separate ways in 2007, Porter released a statement saying she was looking forward to moving on with her life. “We will remain friends and committed parents to our children.”
A source who spoke to WHO revealed that: “[Sean] and Kim were still very close friends and co-parents even though their romantic relationship didn’t work – they were still a family.”
On Nov. 19, Brown, 27, wrote a tribute to his mother on Instagram alongside a picture of the pair with his sisters. “I am broken...& the only thing that makes sense right now is that you were way too good for this silly world we live in. I love you so much.” •
