Four years after the release of her last album, the 26-year-old winner of the inaugural season of The Voice has returned with Born to Fight (out now) – and a brand new look.

Welcome back. Does this feel like a comeback? Yeah, it’s been a while. It did feel like a very long four years. What was the process of recording Born to Fight like? It was quite blissful. I’m a bit older, I have more knowledge of the industry and I was able to stand up for things I would like to hear. Not to say that anything I’ve sung before wasn’t, but I walked away going, “I pulled a lot of that [together],” and I’m proud of it. Lead track “Stop F---ing With My Head” is a bold start … I’m a country girl, but when I’m doing interviews, I pretend I’m at my nan’s, where you’re very polite and say please and thank you. When I’m at home, I’m a completely different person so it was nice to bring a bit of my fire into my music. Is that song aimed at anyone in particular? I think we all have someone we wish would stop f---ing with our head. Do I? Yeah, I’m not going to lie. They know who they are. What inspired the album’s title, Born to Fight? It is public knowledge I had quite a struggle through my early teen years. Because of that, I’m very resilient, but since The Voice I have shared my vulnerabilities and a lot of my fans connected to that, so it was important to me to send a positive message about rising out of the pain. What have been your biggest highs and lows since your time on The Voice? Biggest high would be becoming a mother, and being able to buy a home and feel grounded. I think I was handed enough trouble in my early years that whoever’s up there looking down is going, “You’re alright now, darling.” Your new look is quite radical! I’ve never had crazy coloured hair before. I thought while I’m still young, why not? And you’re looking fantastic. What’s your training regime? We’ve got 13 acres and I just started jogging around our yard. I basically work out so I can eat whatever I want.

?? ?? “A main achievement for this album was to let my hair down and have a bit more fun with music,” Eden says.
