The pop star is said to be struggling with depression O

N MARCH 9, JUSTIN BIEBER BARED his soul to his 105 million Instagram followers. “Just wanted to keep you guys updated a little bit,” he prefaced the heartfelt post. “Hopefully what I’m going through will resonate with you guys. Been struggling a lot. Just feeling super disconnected and weird,” he wrote, alongside a 2016 photo of himself at prayer with manager Scooter Braun and Kanye West.

“I always bounce back so I’m not worried, just wanted to reach out and ask for your [sic] guys to pray for me. God is faithful and ur prayers really work thanks … the most human season I’ve ever been in facing my stuff head on.

The singer’s candid message about his struggles was a “big step” for Bieber, 25, a source tells WHO. “The whole point of counselling and therapy is to get to the bottom of why you feel the way you feel. Once you reach the truth about yourself, you tell other people the truth,” says the source. “This was Justin being authentic and telling people his truth. That Instagram post was an important part of his recovery.”

Last month, multiple sources confirmed to WHO that the Canadian star was being treated for depression. “His emotions are raw, but he knows that his counselling – however painful – is what he needs as he moves forward with his life,” said an insider, who says Bieber’s treatment has spiritual and secular components. “He’s feeling very positive that he’s uncovering some root issues … He’s going to be a dad someday, and he knows that could happen sooner rather than later.”

Following his decision to seek help, Bieber began “feeling very positive”, an insider previously told WHO. The outlook was still promising when he celebrated his milestone birthday on March 1, with a source saying the star is “in a really good place”.

Bieber’s March 9 social media confession is not a setback, according to the source. “He was a little nervous about being public, but he also knows that his road to improvement comes with this level of honesty. He decided that now was time to address things, and to let everyone know what’s going on.” •
