NEW FEARS FOR BRITNEY Mum steps in amid concerns for Brit’s wellbeing

Britney’s mother steps in amid concerns for her daughter’s wellbeing

As confusion reigns over the state of Britney Spears’ wellbeing, she, alongside her parents, appeared in the Los Angeles Superior Court on May 10, after her mother Lynne Spears filed a legal motion for access to information pertaining to her daughters’ conservatorship.

The 37-year-old singer has been under her father, and Lynne’s ex-husband, Jamie Spears’ conservatorship since 2008, following her public breakdown in 2007. But after Britney’s latest stint in a ‘wellness’ facility, TMZ claims Lynne believes her daughter is in dire straits and filed for more inclusion in the management of Britney’s wellbeing.

After the trial, Judge Brenda Penny wrote that Spears and her parents had agreed to a 730 expert evaluation, although it was not clear who for. This type of evaluation is often used as a mental competence assessment during divorce cases.

The case comes after a group of concerned fans formed a #freeBritney movement, with TMZ claiming that her father sent her to the facility against her will – a move that is not within his conservatorship power. Yet sources close to the family tell WHO that the “Piece of Me” singer is in good spirits after checking out of an “all-encompassing wellness facility” on April 25.

“Britney is back at home and is very happy about it,” a Spears family insider tells WHO. A source close to the situation adds that the star’s mother is in Los Angeles to help her daughter. “Britney is still adjusting to

medications. It’s a difficult situation for her and Lynne is in LA to help,” the source says.

There is no doubt it has been a troubling few months for the mother of two – she shares sons Sean, 13, and Jayden, 12, with ex-husband Kevin Federline. In January, she announced the postponement of her latest Las Vegas residency, Domination, revealing she was taking time out to help care for her father, who suffered a life-threatening colon rupture.

“I am dedicating my focus and energy to care for my family,” Britney said in a statement at the time. “We have a very special relationship and I want to be with my family at this time.”

The star then announced on April 3 that she was taking some “me time”. A source told WHO that Britney’s personal break included checking in to the wellness treatment facility.

“She recognised she needed to focus on her own health and sought treatment,” said the source. “No-one forced her to go.” Weeks later, the singer appeared to react to the #freeBritney campaign. “I wanted to say hi, because things that are being said have just gotten out of control!” she wrote. “There’s rumours, death threats to my family and my team – I am trying to take a moment for myself.”

Asking for space to deal with “all the hard things that life is throwing my way”, Britney sent love to her fans. “You may not know this about me. But I am strong and stand up for what I want.”
