Resonate Therapy is a sanctuary 10 minutes’ drive south of Byron Bay. As I was led to a private room I noticed the walls were adorned with diplomas and certificates and, as it turns out, the founder, Danielle Gigante, is a master of many things. I was booked in for the twohour chakra package, which includes a deeptissue massage, guided meditation, chakra cleanse and sound healing.

In the Hindu tradition, the chakras are energy centres that run throughout the body and relate to specific emotional and physical conditions. A ‘chakra clearing’ is said to rebalance your energy, which can have a positive effect on your overall wellbeing.

To begin, Gigante used a guided breath meditation to ease me into a more relaxed state as she moved the energy from my chakra points until they felt clear. It was very relaxing. Then the massage began, which was a mixture of remedial massage, relaxation and energy healing that moulded my tired muscles (and mind) into a more pliable state. I didn’t realise I had so many knots, but Gigante expertly paid attention to the areas that needed it most.

Having succumbed to the bodywork I was moved into what can only be called an altered state as my ears were met with the sound of crystal singing bowls. It’s an out-of-this-world sensation that’s hard to describe.

I can’t say whether my balanced chakras made me feel better as I was feeling good when I arrived, but I can highly recommend the Two-hour Chakra Package. It’s an amazing mind-body-spirit treat that you generally don’t get at an average massage practice.
