New details emerge of the fake health guru’s life

-

DISGRACED WELLNESS BLOGGER Belle Gibson faced court for the second time this year on June 20 to be questioned about failing to pay her $410,000 fines. The 27-year-old, who previously lied about curing herself of brain cancer, has told the Federal Court in Melbourne that she is living off Centrelink benefits and the odd Airtasker job.

In yet another turn of events, A Current Affair revealed the fake wellness guru was working at a gentlemen’s club in Melbourne following her downfall in 2016. During her court appearance, Gibson was asked about bank deposits by a woman named Maxine Fenson, who, as A Current Affair revealed, is the owner of Maxine’s Erotic Ultra Lounge in Brunswick, Melbourne. Gibson denied having done work for the strip-club owner, but Fenson told the program differently.

“She needed a job and I needed someone to help me with an event coming up,” Fenson said. “I didn’t really know too much [about Gibson], I knew the name but I didn’t read anything about her previously.”

The business owner explained she hired Gibson to help with an adult industry awards event and that she had urged her to come clean. “I tried to get her to at least apologise and put it out in the open. I just wish she would do that, I think that would be great and give some sort of comfort for the people who have been hurt by her,” Fenson said. “I think she should be straight and honest.”

Speaking to News Corp, Fenson confirmed she had not employed Gibson as a stripper. “She ran errands. She did a lot of stuff on the computer … She did social media,” she said.

When prompted about starting up other ventures to assist her in paying her fines, Gibson told the court, “I don’t believe [I am] employable at this time”.

She has been previously warned about the possibility of being jailed for refusing to pay the fines, and financial analysis showed she spent a total of $90,000 in the past two years. However, when asked if she would reduce her spending to pay the fines Gibson replied: “No.” •
