Mat runs deeper than it appears on screen.

According to Melbourne brothers Tim,

32, and Mat, 27, it was a dinner that Shayn and Carly and Lisa and Andy didn’t attend which kick-started animosity that was never repaired. “The Shayn and Carly thing wasn’t accurate,” Tim says. “So Shayn and Carly were invited to dinner – I actually sent a text message, so they were definitely invited. We don’t know what’s happened there ... We’re not sure who chose to say they weren’t invited, because they were invited.” Speaking about the growing divide between the teams, Carly admits she and her husband

“felt out of place”. “It was weird. Particularly when we were in Campbelltown; we didn’t know if it was personal. And we wanted to talk to Tim and Mat about it but they didn’t seem so interested. And when we came into that first exterior challenge, we were like, ‘OK, obviously something is going to need to be said because we are still working pretty close together.’” But Tim and Mat say it was them who broached the topic. “We actually confronted them,”
