There’s only one thing to do when you turn 50 but look 30, and that is to celebrate with a national arena tour – just ask Jennifer Lopez. The age-defying superstar isn’t showing any signs of slowing down as she gets older. “I am 50. But I feel like I’m 28,” the mother of two told the Los Angeles Times. “Just because you know my real age, it doesn’t matter. Can I pull it off ?”

pull it off, she’s still considered one of the most beautiful women in the world, and she’s topping the charts, selling out arenas for her It’s My Party tour and making millions of dollars every year.
However, as her famous song goes, “Don’t be fooled by the rocks that I got” – or her abs for that matter – she’s still Jenny from the Block aka New York borough The Bronx. Born in 1969 to working class Puerto Rican parents, Lopez started singing and dancing lessons at just 5 years old.
Her rise to fame began in 1991 when she became one the back-up dancers for boy band New Kids on the Block. This led to her first big job as a Fly Girl dancer on US sketch comedy show In Living Color. Moving to LA, she soon scored acting parts in movies and TV shows before landing her breakthrough role playing American star Selena QuintanillaPérez in the 1997 film Selena. She’s reported to have been paid $US1 million, making Lopez the highest-paid Hispanic actress in history at the time. According to Lopez, the role was also one of the big drivers behind kickstarting her music career. “It had a lot to do with it – all those performances,” she told Billboard. “It made me realise, ‘Don’t neglect parts of yourself and let people put you in a box because you’re an actress. You can do this, and you can also do that.
Life is short, and you don’t know what’s going to happen. Go for your dreams and don’t let anyone hold you back’.” And luckily for her millions of fans around the globe, the pop star hasn’t stopped making music since. Eight albums, and more than 50 film and TV roles later, these days Lopez is believed to be worth about $600 million. She’s currently touring the US on her first tour in seven years to celebrate her 50th birthday.
Also one of the highest-paid actresses in the world, Lopez is renowned as one of the biggest multi-genre entertainers of all time. While the American Idol judge – who is engaged to former baseball superstar Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez, 43 – has an impressive body of work, her actual body has also been a huge source of success! The ageless bombshell is famous for her rock-hard abs and line-free glowing skin. So, what’s her secret? “The No. 1 tip is to always get enough sleep,” she told In Style. “I can’t stress this enough. Ideally, I would love to get nine or 10 hours of sleep, but either way, I always make sure I get at least eight.” Mum of 11-year-old twins Emme and Max, Lopez swears by a diet of protein and lots of greens. “We eat a lot of green vegetables, asparagus, brussels sprouts, broccoli and kale,” she told Us Weekly. “I love to cook, I cook a lot of stuff, I love cooking Puerto Rican food, because that’s what I grew up on.”
Speaking to Hello, Lopez also gave one important tip for those hoping to age as slowly as she is. “I don’t drink, smoke or have caffeine,” she said. “That really wrecks your skin as you get older.”
