WHAT: COLONIC TREATMENT WHERE: COLON CARE CENTRE, SURRY HILLS, NSW COST: $180 FOR 11/2 HOUR, INCLUDING CONSULTATION

- EMMA JARVIE

When I first heard ‘colonic’ I was nervous and scared, feeling all emotions you normally would when hearing the word, right!? Those feelings were quick to change after experiencing what I found to be a calming and peaceful journey. For those who don’t know what a colonic is, it is a treatment conducted by a closed colonic device which is used to wash out the contents of the large bowel using water.

My colonic treatment began with a nutrition consultation assessment where nutritionist Anna and I discussed my daily diet and which foods I should be eating/ avoiding for my blood type. Being blood type A, I found out foods such as bananas, red meat and dairy were hard for me to digest. After my consultation assessment we began the colonic treatment, starting with a full abdominal massage where the aim is to release and eliminate inflammatory food. Abdominal palpitation is applied throughout the colonic treatment to assess blockages in relation to organ insufficient function. I can’t say the feeling of water being flushed into my intestine wasn’t that pleasant, although knowing that any toxins, bloating and digestive problems I may have had were getting sorted, made it well worth it.

Two weeks on, I’m feeling calm, clearer and cleaner than ever!

The overall benefits of my colonic included:

• Strengthening bowel function and immune system

• Educational value for awareness of the body and mind

• Clearing negative emotions

• Weight loss quickly with lowering fluid retention

• Detoxifying the liver
