FOUR MONTHS AFTER WELCOMING her first child, Marlie-Mae Rose, with her fiancé, former Bachelor Matthew Johnson, Laura Byrne has bounced back, revealing her athletic figure during a weekend swim with her family. Byrne showcased her impressive post-baby body in a black bikini at Bondi’s Icebergs on October 27.

The former reality TV star revealed back in September that she was easing back into her workouts, taking part in a yoga class. “Three months postpartum and this morning I officially got back on the exercise train,” she posted to her fans on Instagram.

It’s not been easy, however, with Byrne admitting, “It can be hard to feel like yourself after having a baby … especially if you’re still breastfeeding and getting little sleep.”

Fitness has always been a priority for the 33-year-old, who was working out four times a week prior to pregnancy.

“We stick to HIIT (High Intensity Interval

Training) two days and two days with a hypertrophy ( building muscle) approach,” her trainer at the time, Jono Castano Acero, revealed.

Byrne also followed the ketogenic diet, which limits carbohydrate intake and includes “moderate amounts of protein”.

“Laura has five meals a day: breakfast, mid-morning, lunch, mid-afternoon and dinner, which include animal proteins and non-starchy, above-ground vegetables like broccoli, Brussels sprouts and spinach,” explained Castano Acero. Byrne altered her habits but continued to stay active right up until her due date.

“When your gym buddy is 39 weeks and wants to exercise … no excuse is valid!” Johnson wrote on Instagram three weeks before Marlie-Mae’s arrival.

Despite looking the picture of bliss, Byrne admits her post-partum body has been a series of surprises, revealing her hair has been falling out in clumps.

“To all the balding mamas out there, you are a God damn baby-making queen,” she posted online.
