Kourtney Kardashian
The eldest Kardashian will step back from the show
APPEARING ON ENTERTAINMENT Tonight, Kourtney Kardashian, alongside her sisters Kim and Khloé, broke the news that she will be quitting Keeping Up With the Kardashians. In the exclusive interview, the 40-yearold explained her desire to step out of the spotlight and focus on her three children, Mason, 9, Penelope, 7, and Reign, 4. “I just decided to spend more time as a mom and put more of my energy there,” she told ET.
Indeed, on November 10, Kourtney uploaded a series of images and videos to Instagram of her and her children running through hills in the countryside as the sun set. “We have everything we need,” she captioned the snaps.
During her Entertainment Tonight interview, Kourtney added, “But I’m not saying goodbye.”
Her sisters, who were sitting smiling by her side, joked that she will be back soon.
“They all come back,” Khloé, 35, says with a laugh.
The interview, on November 7, came just days after speculation that the hit reality show’s days are numbered.
With ratings plunging 20 per cent a month since Season 17 debuted, the show’s executive producer Ryan Seacrest said, “They lived for over a decade with cameras following them, I could not do it, no matter what they were paying. I don’t know how they do it”.
To confirm Kourtney’s decision, in a new trailer for the current season, she tells her sisters she has other priorities besides her role on the show.
“You would be happy if the show ended?” her sister Khloé asked the mum of three. “Yeah, who cares?” she answered.
Moments later we hear a furious Kim, 39, scream, “We’re firing Kourtney. She’s out”.
