STAY

There’s no shortage of luxe hotels for travellers to rest their heads, dine, relax and unwind in style in the Western Australian capital. The Ritz-Carlton, Perth, officially opened its doors on November 15, marking a much-anticipated return for the iconic luxury brand in Australia. Offering 205 guestrooms and 18 suites, the five-star hotel has sweeping views of the Swan River, a world-class spa, a signature restaurant and lounge – Hearth – and chic rooftop bar, Songbird, already the hottest place for a sundowner and artisan cocktail in Perth. Art lovers should also check in at The Adnate, WA’s first Art Series Hotel and the first dedicated to street art. The 250-room property features striking murals, canvases and prints throughout and is also home to the hip Hyde Perth Kitchen + Cocktails.

DO

Stroll the streets of the hip, inner-city cultural hub of Northbridge, which is renowned for its galleries, cafes, restaurants and quirky William Street boutiques, and don’t leave town without a visit to the famous Cottesloe Beach. Have a dip, soak up the atmosphere and end the day with a cold beer at the famous Cottesloe Beach Hotel. For a selfie with a quokka (a small wallaby-like marsupial native to Rottnest) and a relaxed day trip, Rottnest Island is a must. Just a 30-minute express ferry ride from Fremantle, this protected nature reserve is car-free and has idyllic white-sand beaches and secluded coves.

EAT

The State Buildings, comprising three restored heritage properties, is a must-see culinary hub and home to modern Thai street food restaurant Long Chim and the exceptional but unpretentious Petition Kitchen. For a special culinary experience head to Perth icon Wildflower. Located on the rooftop of COMO The Treasury, Wildflower offers top-notch service and some of the best food in the city.

DRINK

With their airy alfresco spaces and creative cocktail menus, Hyde and Songbird are two of the hottest spots in Perth. For a cosy, intimate drink, don’t leave town without a drink at the charming Bar Lafayette located in the CBD. For impressive cocktails and a killer wine list, head to Fremantle’s Strange Company, while Alfred’s Pizzeria’s Small Bar is the place to go for a late-night snack.
