WHO

ALL THAT GLITTERS

We take a look at the best (and worst!) Oscars fashion

-

CYNTHIA ERIVO ATELIER VERSACE Nominated for her performance in Harriet, Erivo moved many to tears when she performed the song ‘Stand Up’. She’d previously boycotted the BAFTAs because all the acting nominees were white. RENÉE ZELLWEGER ARMANI PRIVÉ The popular Best Actress winner donned a sleek, one-shoulder sequinned, floor-length sweeping gown that Judy Garland herself would have loved. SCARLETT JOHANSSON OSCAR DE LA RENTA She missed out in two acting categories, but rode high in the glam stakes in this beautiful strapless gown featuring a sheer corset-style top and slinky silky skirt that showcased her incredible figure.

REBEL WILSON JASON WU

Before her new Channel Seven show Pooch Perfect starts, the Jojo Rabbit actress showed off her recent weight loss in this dazzling, gold sequinned number.

SANDRA OH ELIE SAAB

Sparkles, ruffles, a bow and a deep V neckline. Oh, Sandra, you really gave us a bit of everything this year!

BRIE LARSON CELINE

Appropriately enough, Captain Marvel rocked a cape in her sequinnedpink dress, with a killer thigh-high split to boot.

CHARLIZE THERON DIOR

Looking like a true screen siren, The Bombshell actress embodied her film’s title in a fitted bodice, simple skirt and high slit, which showed off her figure to full effect.

NATALIE PORTMAN DIOR

As a protest for the female directors overlooked in this year’s nominations, the Black Swan

Oscar winner had their names embroidered into the cape she wore over her bold haute couture outfit.

SAOIRSE RONAN GUCCI

The Irish actress, who notched up her fourth Oscar nomination for Little Women, stepped out in a sustainable Gucci gown made using surplus fabric from her BAFTAs dress.

LAURA DERN ARMANI PRIVÉ

After sweeping this year’s awards season, the star topped off her perfect run with her first ever Oscar win. While her acting skills in Marriage Story are unrivalled, we’d personally love her to divorce the tassels on this black and pink number.

MARGOT ROBBIE CHANEL

The Aussie A-lister, nominated for Bombshell, confidently walked the red carpet solo in this vintage, strapless navy Chanel dress, with flowing cuff sleeves and a spectacular jewel as its centrepiece.

OLIVIA COLMAN STELLA MCCARTNEY

A newly blonde Colman looked like she’d found an ingenious way to keep cool on the red carpet with armpit holes in her velvet gown. We’re not quite sure this outfit is fit for a queen, but The Crown star still shone nonetheless.

MAYA RUDOLPH VALENTINO

If she wanted to steal an Oscar during the evening, she’d have had plenty of room to hide it! The Good Place and Bridesmaids star was a copper sparkling standout in this oversized number.

JULIA LOUISDREYFUS VERA WANG

On many people’s Best Dressed list, the Veep actress turned heads in a royal blue satin dress, slightly ruched at the neckline and subtly pulled into her waist. The spectacular diamonds were to die for!

KRISTEN WIIG VALENTINO

The Bridesmaids star’s set of scarlet gills made her the envy of others on the rainsoaked red carpet, though some wondered if she was either being consumed by a caterpillar or had become trapped in a giant lasagne.

FLORENCE PUGH LOUIS VUITTON

It took six seamstresses a total of 250 hours to create this magnificent taffeta-lined, silk-satin ruffle-fest for the Little Women first-time nominee.

MINDY KALING DOLCE & GABBANA

The Office star had to be accompanied by a security guard to protect the 120 carats of Chopard diamonds in this dramatic necklace, which is eerily similar to the one her character plotted to steal in the heist movie Ocean’s 8!

SIGOURNEY WEAVER DIOR

She’s been a style icon for four decades, and this Academy Awards was no exception for the 70-yearold, three-time nominee in this sumptuous emeraldgreen gown with pleated skirt and draped neckline.
