TIME PARTY
Once the official show was over, the stars let their hair down
The Governors Ball was the first stop for winners. Laura Dern had her trophy engraved with her family in tow, Renée Zellweger gazed lovingly at her new hardware while toting a wine glass and Brad Pitt sipped on a soft drink and snacked on the Wolfgang Puck-created offerings like taro root tacos and smoked salmon Oscar statues as he waited his turn. Best Actor Joaquin Phoenix first made a pit stop in Los Angeles’ Koreatown to grab a takeaway from plant-based restaurant Monty’s Good Burger with fiancée Rooney Mara (who changed into high-top sneakers).
Another hot ticket for the night was Elton
John’s annual viewing party, hosted by the Queer Eye cast and which raised more than $9.5 million for AIDS charities. As guests watched the ceremony, the singer slipped out to perform and then pick up his Oscar for Best Original Song.
Over at the Vanity Fair bash, Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West enjoyed a loved-up date night, kissing on the red carpet. “Kim, Kanye and Kylie [Jenner] were all together,” a source told Us Weekly. “Kim and Kanye were very sweet and cute together.” Kim wore an Alexander McQueen gown that she said was gifted to her by Kanye for Christmas. “I would always stress out about big events like this and what would I wear and the last-minute part of it,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “So he
got me a few really nice couture pieces so
I wouldn’t stress out.”
The prospect of a wardrobe malfunction, however, was stressing her out. “I literally have to lay down in the car, like I cannot sit up because my dress will rip or pop or something,” she posted in her Instagram Story. “But it’s worth it – I’m a queen.”
Inside, Kanye caught up with Pitt. “They hugged hello and caught up,” a source said of the pair who were spotted together at one of West’s Sunday Services in September. “They seemed happy to see each other and like they shared a mutual respect for one another.” Kim, meanwhile, had her own reunion, chatting to her former stepfather Caitlyn Jenner while Kylie clocked time with her ex, Travis Scott. The group also made the guest list of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s exclusive gathering at the Chateau Marmont, which also reportedly included Charlize Theron, Kourtney Kardashian, James Corden, Jessica Alba, Spike Lee, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. “Only @ beyonce could get me out of the house past 11pm …” Reese Witherspoon captioned her party-ready Instagram post.
