MALE BREAST CANCER – WHAT TO KNOW
Breast cancer cases in men make up just one per cent of all diagnoses each year. However men die of breast cancer at a higher rate – 19 per cent higher – than women. “Unfortunately men tend to be diagnosed with more advanced disease than women and therefore have lower survival rates,” says Dr Sharon Giordano, a chair in cancer research at the University of Texas. “That may be due to lack of awareness that breast cancer can happen in men.”
